AS BIG SICILY, AS SMALL AS A TILE

 

OPEN UP SICILY WITH AVERNA

This packaging design and brand identity project for Averna Amaro Siciliano aimed at evolving its identity, defining a distinctive and recognizable territory, and differentiating itself from the competitive scenario of the Amari category – while fully respecting the brand’s heritage.
The construction of an authentic, vibrant identity that transmits the values ​​of warm conviviality and the contemporary Sicilian lifestyle must allow the development of a coherent and powerful ecosystem of brand assets, leveraging the rich heritage and provenance of the brand.
The label, designed like a typical Caltagirone majolica, artistically captures the juxtaposition of heritage and modernity, calm and color, at the heart of Averna’s deep-rooted “Sicilian Character”.
The design elements applied to the label effectively add further tiles to the mosaic. These include the brand’s founding year, 1868, its aromatic Mediterranean ingredients, and the iconic symbol of “trinacria”, the original name given to Sicily by the Romans inspired by the shape of the island they were exploring.
When you open a bottle of Averna, you open the modern and vibrant world of Sicily. This is a totally new approach that makes Averna the true icon of the authentic Sicilian lifestyle.
Each majolica captures an aspect of the multifaceted culture, nature, taste, and character of Trinacria. By doing so, the brand finds a unique style to express itself like no one else has before, combining authenticity with contemporary character. Each of these colorful tiles carries its own independent meaning whereas, when used all together, they combine into infinite creative solutions, just like the vibrant kaleidoscope that is Sicily.

AVERNA TRIBUTO SICILIANO

Sicily is a land of strong contrasts and bright colors, a place where modernity and tradition mix with incredible vitality and cultural richness. It is here that Amaro Averna was born, in 1868, crafted by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Santo Spirito in Caltanissetta.
The RISERVA TRIBUTO SICILIANO project, featuring a collection of bottles dedicated to Sicily, was launched with the aim of enhancing the key elements of Averna Don Salvatore, while still remaining a credible Sicilian icon.
Averna celebrates the authentic Sicilian soul with this special edition of its best amaro, aged for 18 months in oak barrels. A kaleidoscope of flavors, colors, art, and know-how – the true quintessence of Sicily.
RBA Design has developed the packaging for the new limited edition of the Riserva product. The bottles were created with a multi-subject solution, defining a total range of five different labels, depicting the majolica that is at the core of Averna’s brand identity, a clear and immediate expression of Sicilian art.
With the launch of RISERVA TRIBUTO SICILIANO, Averna strengthens its bond with its territory of origin, Sicily, through projects of value for the region and its inhabitants. For this reason, in 2022, a partnership with Farm Cultural Park was created – one of the most lively and innovative cultural realities in our country, known throughout the world for having transformed the dilapidated historic center of Favara, a small town in the province of Agrigento, into a cultural and artistic destination that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
For each bottle of RISERVA TRIBUTO SICILIANO, Averna will make a donation to support the cultural projects and initiatives of Farm Cultural Park in 2023.
With Averna RISERVA TRIBUTO SICILIANO, RBA Design won the Product Identity award for the Limited Edition category at the 2023 Touchpoint Awards.
